I’ve never made this correlation before, but I found it to be very profound as I was reading recently and wanted to share with you.
I’ve heard my pastor at church quote the scripture in Romans. Romans 4:17 says, “…God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did…”
Basically, he’s saying that when you’re believing in faith for something to happen, start speaking it over your life daily and in your prayers. I’m believing for children, so when I pray, I say, “Thank you Lord for my three baby boys.” Or, if you’re believing for a car or a new job, you have to start speaking the words, “Thank you for my new car!” or “Thank you for my new job!” Whatever it is you’re believing for, you speak to it as if it has already happened!
So, here’s the profound part. When God created the Heavens and the earth, He spoke them into being. He spoke. He took an empty, vast area that was nothing and He spoke it into being. Psalm 33:6 says, “By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.” In Genesis, there are several verses where God spoke the words, “Let there be…” and there was…whatever He spoke, there was.
If God can speak it and it can be, why do we have such a hard time believing that we can’t or don’t have the same authority that God does? Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, we are given the Authority to cast out demons and move mountains. Mark 11:23 says, “I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.”
Jesus was born as a human, made of flesh…just like us. God gave Him the Authority to speak and make things happen…Jesus cast out demons; Jesus made the sick well; Jesus raised the dead; Jesus calmed the storm. What makes Jesus different from us? He had faith it would happen and He spoke it into being! That’s all! He had faith. He spoke it into being. We have that same authority!
Proverbs 18:21 says, “Life and death are in the power of the tongue.” The way we speak will determine our course in life. If we only think negative thoughts and speak negative words, we will only get negative results. If you want to see your life move in a positive and different direction than it’s currently in, you hold the key to make it happen! Speak life over yourself. Speak the Truth over yourself. Speak to exactly what you want to see change in your life.
And have the faith to see it through! “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1) Faith doesn’t make it easy, faith makes it possible. And we know that NOTHING is impossible with God!! (Luke 1:37)
