“Two are better than one, because they have a good (more satisfying) reward for their labor; for if they fall the one will lift up his fellow.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

When I read this verse I thought of all the friendships I’ve had in my life. We all have had friends that come into our lives for a season and some that remain for a lifetime. Some friends I believe are in our lives to teach us something (good or bad), and others cross our paths for us to be a light and bless them. Either way, friendships are of the Lord. I came across the “Friendship A-Z” and thought this was a great reminder of what to look for in a friendship and how we can be a good friend to others.

A Friend….

Accepts you as you are

Believes in “you”

Calls you just to say “Hi!”

Doesn’t give up on you

Envisions the whole of you (even the unfinished parts)

Forgives your mistakes

Gives unconditionally

Helps you

Invites you over

Just “be” with you

Keeps you close at heart

Loves you for who you are

Makes a difference in your life

Never Judges

Offers support

Picks you up

Quiets your fears

Raises your spirits

Says nice things about you

Tells you the truth when you need it

Understands you

Values you

Walks beside you

X-plains things you don’t understand

Yells when you won’t listen and

Zaps you back to reality

If you are in need of a Godly friend, begin to pray and ask the Lord to place one across your path. But remember…to have a friend, you must be a friend. Look for people around you who need an encouraging word, a smile and maybe just an ear (it is okay to say nothing). I also want to thank my friends for being amazing and for teaching me so much about the goodness of the Lord! 🙂 Happy Friending my Friends!
