Do you remember that song from a few years ago, “He Is” by Aaron Jeoffrey? The song took you through the whole Bible telling you in a word or phrase who Messiah was in that book of the Bible.
In Genesis, He’s the Breath of Life
In Ruth, the Kinsmen-Redeemer
In Ezekiel, He’s the Call from sin
In Hosea, He is Forever Faithful
In John and in Jude, He’s the Lover coming for His bride
In Revelation, He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords
Here is a youtube link if you haven’t heard it: http://youtu.be/C7Btc3g0UaU
I’m almost in tears by the end of the song every time I hear it. It is so powerful to hear (and see mentally) these word pictures of our Savior. It is very moving to see our Messiah throughout the history of His people and into the future of our own lives.
So I was thinking about this song and the thought came to me, “Who is He in my book of life?” If someone were to write and read my life like a book of the Bible, who would they see Him as in it? Or [gasp] WOULD they see Him in it?
So in my very own ego-tinged song maybe I’d sing…
In Sherryle, He’s the laughter in the crowd
In Sherryle, He is the welcoming arms to the prodigal
In Sherryle, a faithful shoulder upon which to lean
In Sherryle, He’s the hand that steadies the rocking ship
In Sherryle, He’s the reminder to keep breathing
In Sherryle, He’s conviction without condemnation
Each one of those is a statement of truth in my life; but more than anything, in each stage or new phase, rocky or smooth path, He has always been my Faithful Father. Faith-FULL. Full of Faith. The definition of Faithful is: to support, to confirm, to uphold, to nourish, to foster, to establish, to carry, to make firm, sure, lasting, verified, reliable, trustworthy, to believe. All of these things He has been in my life. Especially that last one: To Believe. Yes! He is that to me. He BELIEVES in me and on Him I can depend. He WILL be there! He will never leave me nor forsake me (Deuteronomy 31:6). No matter the circumstance, my God does not change (Numbers 23:19), and if I can answer a simple question, “Is God still God?” then I have my answer in any time of feast or famine. He is still here beside me. He is still for me. He is still trustworthy, reliable, lasting, firm and faithful!
In Sherryle, He is still God, my Faithful Father.
“Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commands.” – Deuteronomy 7:9
Now I pose the question to you…Who is He in Your Book?
