Jane Landers: Godly Girlfriends

To help promote our Awaken Women’s Retreat for 2014, we are going to be posting the speaker profiles for each of our Awaken Breakout Speakers on our blog for the next several weeks.  If you’d like more information on our Awaken Women’s Retreat, you can check out the Awaken 2014 tab on our main page or visit our Awaken Facebook page.

Our first speaker profile for 2014 is Jane Landers.

Jane and her husband, Shane, are the pastors at New Life Fellowship in Seminole, Texas.  They have four daughters and eight grandchildren (4 boys and 4 girls).

Jane is teaching a session this year on “Godly Girlfriends.”  In case you haven’t seen or read the brochure, here is the description of her session: “Have you heard the saying, ‘You are who you hang with?’ Let’s discover the importance of Godly influences as we journey through the story of Ruth and Naomi.  We’ll also discuss the 7 traits of a Godly woman.”

We asked Jane some questions about her session and herself and this is what she had to say.

AW: Jame, you’re speaking on friendships this year at Awaken.  Why do you feel this topic is important to women?

JL: I believe it’s relevant for every woman.  We are often challenged in our friendships and I truly believe in the saying “you are who you hang with.”

AW: What do you hope that women will take away from your class?

JL: I pray that women go home seeing the bigger picture of Godly influences in their lives.

AW: How many years have you attended Awaken?

JL: This will be my 2nd year attending.

AW: Have you been a breakout speaker before and if so, what was your topic?

JL: Yes, I taught a session last year called, “The Empty Nest.”

AW: Why do you think it’s important to have the breakout sessions at Awaken?

JL: I think it’s important because the sessions meet the individual needs of the women attending.

AW: Do you have a favorite scripture and can you share it with us?

JL: Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

AW: Anything else about your topic that you’d like to share with us?

JL: Friendships are like flowers just waiting to bloom.

Thank you Jane!  We look forward to your breakout session in October! 🙂
