Ramona Murillo: Letting Go of the Hurt

To help promote our Awaken Women’s Retreat for 2014, we are going to be posting the speaker profiles for each of our Awaken Breakout Speakers on our blog for the next several weeks.  If you’d like more information on our Awaken Women’s Retreat, you can check out the Awaken 2014 tab on our main page or visit our Awaken Facebook page.

Our fourth speaker for 2014 is Ramona Murillo.

Ramona

Ramona and her husband, Herman recently moved from Lubbock to Amarillo, Texas and attend Trinity Fellowship.  They have two children and two granddaughters.

Ramona is teaching a class on “Letting Go of the Hurt.”  She has taught this class every year that we have had our Awaken Women’s Retreat. The details of her class are as follows: “Are you carrying hurts from your past? When you live in the pain of your childhood, you are held back from walking in God’s promises. Come and learn how to shine through the darkness and step into the light of His presence!”

We asked Ramona a few questions about her class and herself and this is what she had to say.

AW: Ramona, you’re sharing your testimony for the sixth year in a row at Awaken in your class, “Letting Go of the Hurt.” Why do you feel this is a class that is worth repeating every year?

RM: Because so many women don’t realize they are holding on to their past, until they hear of someone else’s testimony.

AW: What do you hope that women will take away from your class?

RM: That they are not alone in their situation and with God’s help they can go forward and stop holding on to their childhood past.

AW: Do you have a favorite scripture?

RM: Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT), “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not depend on your own understanding.  Seek His will in all you do, and He will make your paths straight.”

AW: Ramona, you’ve attended Awaken for the past five years and have taught a breakout session at each one and are doing it again this year for the sixth time, how do you feel getting to share your testimony each year?

RM: It’s been an honor.

AW: Why do you think it’s important to have the breakout sessions at Awaken?

RM: I think the breakout sessions provide good information on a variety of issues and in an intimate setting.

AW: Is there anything else about your topic or class that you’d like to share with the ladies?

RM: I want to encourage all women to attend and bring their friends! Every speaker will have something special to share and I want them to start preparing for what God is going to do in all our lives when we are there.

Thank you, Ramona!  We look forward to your class!! 🙂
