To help promote our Awaken Women’s Retreat for 2014, we are going to be posting the speaker profiles for each of our Awaken Breakout Speakers on our blog for the next several weeks. If you’d like more information on our Awaken Women’s Retreat, you can check out the Awaken 2014 tab on our main page or visit our Awaken Facebook page.
Our sixth speaker for 2014 is Sally Green.
Sally and her husband, Brent, live in Roswell, New Mexico and attend Church on the Move. They have two children.
Sally’s breakout session for this year is titled, “Commanding Your Post.” The description of her class is as follows: “Being a Godly mother can sometimes feel like a battle. This class will give you insight on how to prepare your children, without leaving you feeling exhausted physically, emotionally and spiritually.”
We asked Sally and few questions about her class and herself and this is what she had to say.
AW: Sally, you’re speaking on parenting this year at Awaken. There are so many places, articles, books, magazines, etc. on parenting; how did you come up with the points you’re going to cover in your message?
SG: Being a registered trainer for the state of New Mexico, I am constantly looking for more parenting/teacher techniques. However, the best techniques I have found have come straight from the Word of God. So many times when I read articles that have good insight or techniques, I can find scripture that matches them. I have gathered information from different courses and trainings that I have attended.
AW: Why do you feel this topic is important to women?
SG: I firmly believe that the next generation has the potential to be world changers. As parents, teachers, grandparents, etc., it is our job to raise children who are prepared to take on the responsibility that is set before them. I believe that many times we as parents find ourselves feeling frustrated because we don’t know what we should do.
AW: What do you hope that women will take away from your class?
SG: My prayer is that women will leave my class feeling prepared to go to battle for their children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. I pray that they will leave with the tools needed to not only feel like they can be successful in parenting, but with the faith that they WILL be successful!
AW: Sally, do you have a favorite scripture?
SG: Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.”
AW: How many years have you attended Awaken and have you been a breakout speaker each time?
SG: I have attended Awaken for four years and I have taught a breakout session each year I’ve attended.
AW: What other topics have you covered in the past when you’ve spoken?
SG: I’ve had the privilege of speaking on parenting and breaking strongholds/addictions.
AW: Why do you think it’s important to have the breakout sessions at Awaken?
SG: We are all in different seasons of life and I think it is so important for us to be fed in the areas that will benefit us in the season we are in.
AW: Is there anything else about your topic or class that you’d like to share with the ladies?
SG: You do not have to be a mother to benefit from the class I’m teaching.
Thank you Sally!! We look forward to your class in October! 🙂
