Shirley Swann: Help Me, Holy Spirit

As we did last year, we are posting information on the different Breakout Speakers and sessions at our Awaken Women’s Retreat in October. If you’d like more information, please click on the Awaken 2015 tab. All the details are located there! We’d love to have you if you haven’t signed up, have been every year or have never been!

Our breakout speaker for this week is Shirley Swann.

Shirley

The title of Shirley’s class is “Help Me, Holy Spirit” and the information on her class is, “Are you aware that your bad attitudes and actions grieve the Holy Spirit and cause Him to withdraw His wonderful influence? He’s continually speaking into situations, but are you listening? Join me as we learn how to honor and follow His presence and guidance.”

We asked Shirley some questions about her upcoming breakout session and her responses are below.

AW: Shirley, you are speaking on the Holy Spirit at Awaken this year. Without giving away too much of your message, tell the ladies a little bit about your topic.

SS: When you pursue the Holy Spirit, you fall in love with the things of God.

AW: Why do you feel this is an important topic to discuss at the retreat?

SS: Jesus came to show us the Father. The Holy Spirit’s job is to reveal Jesus to us, who said, “All things are mine, and the Holy Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known unto you.”

AW: What do you hope that women take away from your class?

SS: Jesus said it would be to our advantage for Him to leave, because when He departed, the Father would send us another Helper just like Himself. How do we communicate with this Helper?

AW: Anything else about your topic or class that you’d like to share with the ladies?

SS: The Holy Spirit causes the manifestation of the spoken Word. When God said, “Light be,” the Holy Spirit was hovering to make light be. We’re the light to the world and the Holy Spirit is still hovering to bring our spoken word into being.

Thanks Shirley! 🙂

Shirley’s session will be during the second session on Friday morning.
