Awaken Main Speaker: Amanda Bullen

As we did last year, we are posting information on the Main Speakers & Worship Leader at our Awaken Women’s Retreat in October. If you’d like more information, please click on the Awaken 2015 tab. All the details are located there! We’d love to have you if you haven’t signed up, have been every year or have never been!  Since our main speakers and worship leader can’t necessarily give you a glimpse into all they are going to share, we thought we’d have some fun with them. We picked some random “get-to-know-you” questions, along with a trivia question and below we’ve listed our questions & their responses. Enjoy!!

This week we have the spunky and super-excited Amanda Bullen!!

AW: Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family.

AB: I’m a wife, mom, coach, teacher, mentor and personal trainer. Matt and I have been married for 11 years and we have two kids, Kade (10) and Tayley (8). I teach Culinary and Health, as well as coach varsity basketball and track. Personal Training is a hobby I’ve had for the last 14 years. Fitness and nutrition is a passion God put in me and I love to impart this information to others. I also recently graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education. I feel blessed to get to do all the things God has placed in my life, but most of all, I’m blessed to be the mom to Kade and Tayley, who keep my life fun and filled with their sports.

AW: What is your favorite scripture?

AB: Micah 7:7-8, NLT, “As for me, I look to the Lord for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me. Do not gloat over me, my enemies! For though I fall, I will rise again. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.”

AW: When you get to heaven, aside from Jesus, who is the one person in the Bible you want to talk to first? And what question would you ask them?

AB: Miriam. I’ve been studying her life and she was the sister of Moses and Aaron; she was strong, capable, protective and brave! First, I would ask what her point of view was about putting her brother Moses in the river. Second, when Moses returned, what was it like to live in the period of the Great Plagues?

AW: Give one word to describe yourself.

AB: Depth

AW: Name something not many people would know about you.

AB: In the last year, I’ve been in a tornado, ice storm, volcanic eruption and a flooded house.

AW: What talent do you wish you were born with?

AB: Dancing

AW: How do you relax?

AB: To relax I cook, read and run

AW: What is your favorite family activity?

AB: Anything competitive–watching my kids play sports (football, soccer, basketball, volleyball & baseball); it’s in our family’s DNA to compete

AW: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

AB: Your life is not your own!

AW: Without looking (we trust you!), can you name all of the themes we’ve had for each of the past years of Awaken? (Hint: we’re on #7)

AB: Brave, Love Life, Shine, Be Alert…that’s all I can remember without cheating and I can’t stand when people cheat, so I won’t!!

AW: Thank you Amanda!! You listed 4 of the 7..way to go!!! 🙂

Ladies, have a blessed week & we’ll see you next week with another one of our main speakers!!
