Valerie Williams: All About the Holy Spirit

This is Week 2 of an 11-week series of posts for our Awaken Women’s Retreat.  Please click on Awaken 2016  or check the tab on our page for more information on our annual retreat in Ruidoso, NM.

This week, we are highlighting Valerie Williams.  Valerie will be teaching a breakout session called, “All About the Holy Spirit.”

Valerie-newBlurb: What is God’s purpose for your life regarding the gifts and fruits of the Spirit?  Join me for an introductory class on the ministry of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

AW: Why is it important to discuss your topic?

VW: The Holy Spirit is the means by which we can live our daily lives as Christians and rise above the sin in this world and stand against the enemy’s desire to steal, kill and destroy our lives. The Holy Spirit gives us the power to have heaven on earth.

AW: What do you hope women will take away from your class?

VW: My hope is we, as women called and purposed in Christ Jesus will leave knowing how to come against every weapon formed against us; that we will move forward through the power of the Holy Spirit to pull down every stronghold, cast down everything that comes against the knowledge of Christ and bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

AW: Anything else about your class you’d like to share?

VW: My prayer is that I display the fruits of the spirit in everything I do. As a wife, mother and friend, I often find myself falling short in the different fruits. BUT, my hope is knowing that I’m not alone in this daily journey and that through fellowship I am encouraged to continue to persevere and seek to be more like Christ.

Now, let’s get to know Valerie a little better.

AW: Valerie, tell us about your family.

VW: I am married to my handsome husband, Christopher Williams of 8 years. We enjoy quoting movies and watching the latest Marvel release and have served in ministry together since we met. We have two wonderful sons, Jeremiah Titus AKA jumping jelly bean who is 6 years old and loves to read and bring his bible to church and has a smile that lights up my day and Anthony Conrad, AKA the Hulk, who will be 3 in August and is rough and tough but the best cuddle bug and loves to tell you how much he loves you.

AW: What is your favorite scripture?

VW: Jeremiah 29:11-13, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart.”

AW: Give one word to describe yourself.

VW: Encourager

AW: If you found a treasure chest, what would you hope was inside?

VW: Gold coins of course or a map leading me to a secret paradise

AW: What do you wish you had an endless supply of?

VW: The ENERGY my sons have

AW: Without looking (we trust you), can you name all of the themes we’ve had for each of the past years of Awaken? (Hint: we’re on #8)

VW: Nope, I’ve only been to 4 and all of them were a blessing!

AW: Ah, thanks Valerie…so glad you enjoyed coming!! And thank you for taking time to visit with us today! 🙂
